WenShengQiWu is a series of combined performances of liberal music with contemporary dance, aiming to provide an art stage for interdisciplinary communication between dancers and other art form. Dancers from France and jazz musicians from Norway together with performing artist from China will bring an excellent show at Zajia Lab, fusing the western and eastern music and dance. The superb performance and unique essence will bring the audiences to a whole new arena of art.

The event will consist of two parts:

21:00~21:30  Orfee Schuijt (Dancer/France)+ Kim Myhr (Guitar)

21:45~22:30  XiaoJuan Shi (Dancer/China)+ Eivin Lønning (Trumpet) + Espen Reinertsen (Tenor Saxophone)+ Li Tieqiao (ALto Saxophone)

Dancers

Orfee Schuijt–comes from southern France. Her background is in dancing, art practice and circus performance. She has been working in famous European dance group Francesco Scavetta, Keren Levi, with them give performance around the world.

 

XiaoJuan Shi -born in Hunan province in 1976, graduated from Beijing Dance Academy traditional dance choreography major and lives in Beijing now. In 2008, she founded Penglai Dance Group, collaborating with artists of various backgrounds, aiming to exploring a new form of expression.

 

Musicians:

Kim Myhr—Recent years, Kim Myhr has been actively performing all around the world, including his improvised solo, his trio “Mural” (with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach) as well as his band project “Stems and Cage” (Streifenjunkos is part of this project). The band project “Stems and Cage” participated in the 2010 Victoriaville Art Festival, which was reviewed as the highlight of the festival by media.

Streifenjunko—is a very rare band composed of an alto Saxophone player and a trumpet player, creating a dynamic style of music. Alto Saxophone player Espen Reinertsen and trumpet player Eivin Lønning apply perticular technique to produce a purified and broad sound (very exclusive sound). The long collaboration of them will also leads to a unique performance.

 

Li Tieqiao —is a Chinese composer, saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist and curator born in the hunan province in 1973 and now based in Beijing. he first learned to play the bamboo flute as a child, before picking up the trombone at the age of 17. It wasn’t un-til 22 he decided on the saxophone as his primary tool of expression. Before starting out as a full time improviser and experimentalist, he was a member of member of Chinese folk/rock/jazz/experimental bands including glorious pharmacy, ping pong Band,Beautiful melon 9+2 Improvisation ensemble.
