Sat 30 June – A Relaxing Day Drifting along the White River

http://www.bjstuff.com/events/sat-30-june-a-relaxing-day-drifting-a...

Date: Sat 30 June 2012

Time: 08:30am

Meeting Point: Outside the Hilton Beijing

Cost: 300RMB per person

Escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Beijing and escape with us to Huairou District in northeastern Beijing. A mere 95km drive from downtown concrete Beijing takes us to the White River (Bai He) area with lush forests, clean air, and pure water. Come and swap the black asphalt for an area with 75% green vegetation cover. The area is popular for all sorts of outdoors sports including rock climbing, hiking and rafting. We will be doing the latter so prepare your Popeye and Olive Oil persona as we “row, row row the boat gently down the stream” for a 8km stretch that includes both quiet and rush moments.

We will not be doing anything too demanding, if my computer shape body can do it so can you, but even so this trip is not suitable for pregnant women (or even pregnant men).

This FCGroup daytrip is not yet on the tourist map and (like all FCGroup trips) is suitable for both foreigners and even the most local of local Chinese. This time the trip will conclude with what Lucy (Achinatours) has promised to be a magnificent local feast to reward those who dared to move out of the safety of downtown Beijing.

This Saturday 23 July a Countryside Walk from Fragrant Village 香屯村(Xiang Tun Cun) to Little West Lake 小西湖(Xiao Xi Hu).

http://www.bjstuff.com/events/countryside-walk-from-fragrant

This FC Club popular fun walk is off the tourist map and (like all FC Club events) is suitable for both foreigners and even the most local of local Chinese, We last did this trip in July 2009 and it was enjoyed by all the participants. It combines a mixture of clambering over rocks, splashing through pools and stopping for rests in the shade of some beautiful trees and a DIY brunch picnic. You will get your feet wet! This trip is not suitable for pregnant ladies but if my "sit in front of a computer all day" physical shape is okay for this trip then so is yours.
