tonight the ultimate reggae party at Obiwan:

An extravaganza of Jamaican beats comes to Obiwan. We've got Skarving, the seven piece ska band that's setting Beijing alight, and the city's premier reggae crew Meiwenti Soundsystem feat. MC Moussa at the mic on the factory floor. Hiphop maestros Beats Royale will be spinning in the Green Room lounge, serving up some fine-ass beats for your delectation. But wait...if this ultimate showdown between the forces of Jamaica and the hip hop empire is not enough to tickle your fancy, we also have special guest and deciding factor Steve Barker mixing on the factory floor, just to keep those Meiwenti ragamuffins on their toes.

This weekend we are not fooling around! Four bands and four DJs will keep you on your toes from Friday evening to Sunday morning.

On Friday 12th we start off with our new "Disco Disco" series feat. The Verse in a night of glitzy 70s glam. You can tell by the way they use their walk, that they're women's men, with no time to talk....that's right, The Verse, Beijing's best funk band, will be giving it up and turning it loose by the lake, with the able support of flared up, hairy chested medallion men Bite*size Buddha, Martin Star and Pimpdaddy Suiki. Hormones will rage, the glitterball will spin, and those crazy kids will set the dancefloor ablaze with airpointing, thumbswings and the loosest hips from here to Manhattan. Yes it's true, we want to do something freaky to you...come on!
doors open at 9:30, adminssion 40 RMB (30 after midnight)

On Saturday the 13th Maybe Mars return to Obiwan for the second concert in their series "Rocking Out By The Lake". Beijing's premier independent rock label present a triple bill of rock goodness featuring flamboyant punks Rustic, who won the Beijing leg of the Global Battle of the Bands, and will go to the competition finals in London this year to put Beijing's case with a pair of hobnailed boots. Also on the bill, indie champions Golden Driver, who present a Beijing spin on British indie rock, and B-Side Lovers, the new project from Hedgehog members Atom and Zo. Beijing Calling follows with a night of indie rock spun by our hipster DJ Mr. Ed.
9:30 pm - admission 40 RMB

Our lounge is now entering the final phase of refurbishment, and the factory floor continues to evolve, so come down and have a drink and check it out; with spring coming, Obiwan is turning into one of the hottest venues for the spring and the year to come.
