Chen Guoyi: Promote our TEA culture to the world

2012 Beijing international tea expo was held in Beijing exhibition center. At the conference we met Mr. Chen Guoyi again who is the founder of BABA Qing tea brand. As the continued interview of him, CRI online ecology channel made an interview about Chinese tea culture for this time.

CRI reporter: Mr. Chen, in the last interview we have talked about the history of BABA Qing tea brand. It’s very interesting. We all know that you are the teacher in a university and your research is about Chinese tea culture. Could you tell us what are the main aspects of Chinese tea culture?

Chen: The Chinese tea culture is looking for some human relationship. People were always looking for healthy drinking. They like to make the drinking to a social activity and the others they really falling in love with the highly quality of tea tasting. I think this can be modified the concept of people’s health. In the old dynasties, from the Chinese tea history, the king found that it was so difficult to make the tea to the royal family. It would take so many days to make it dry without sleep. One of the empire of Ming dynasty, he discovered that it was really a hard job, so he announced to stop this project. When it stopped, the farmer began to give the tea to their friends and they could talked about the quality or the taste of a kind of tea. It was started from Qing dynasty. In the Qing dynasty, emperor Kang Xi once got a souvenir and the tea is in very high fragrance. He was wondering why the name of this tea is so ugly? He put his own idea and gave a name to this tea, it’s Bi Luochun. This brand was given by the royal king himself. After that so many kind of tea came out, we have flower tea, wulong tea and so on. That was the blossomy time for the tea. Tea has become the most healthy drink in the world.

CRI reporter: So many world people from the world they like to drink Chinese tea but they don’t know the culture. What do you think about making the Chinese brand to the world?

Chen: In my opinion, the first thing is to educate this kind of people. Although many people they know how to select the high level tea, but they don’t know the history. To the farmers in our country, they have to make specific level of tea. For example we have 6 categories of tea, you can get the tea from many year ago, it would be more and more valuable. We have give our promise our favor to protect the consumer the suitable and quality from the Chinese tea.

This Saturday 23 July a Countryside Walk from Fragrant Village 香屯村(Xiang Tun Cun) to Little West Lake 小西湖(Xiao Xi Hu).

http://www.bjstuff.com/events/countryside-walk-from-fragrant

This FC Club popular fun walk is off the tourist map and (like all FC Club events) is suitable for both foreigners and even the most local of local Chinese, We last did this trip in July 2009 and it was enjoyed by all the participants. It combines a mixture of clambering over rocks, splashing through pools and stopping for rests in the shade of some beautiful trees and a DIY brunch picnic. You will get your feet wet! This trip is not suitable for pregnant ladies but if my "sit in front of a computer all day" physical shape is okay for this trip then so is yours.
