What did you cook recently?

We don't all have the time, space or place to cook, but many of us like to when we can. It is interesting to see what other people are cooking. Did you make something special for dinner, or invent a new snack?

I bought a "Rice Cooker Plus".  Why didn't I do this before!  You throw in rice, meat, vegetables, flavor, and just hit the cook button.  25 minutes later you have a good dinner. I am a single parent with two kids and even though I keep a list on the wall of what I cook for supper, I run out of ideas. 最近我很忙. This is much better now.

"Isn't baking powder yeast??"

No, baking powder is non-living.  Baking powder is baking soda mixed with creme of tartar (I don't know the Chinese name) or some salt that helps it fizz and give the baked goods the "rise".  It comes all made up in a white powder, and doesn't need any time to rise, like yeast would.

Ha ha, good idea.    I brought a few things back from my last trip.  I was in Chongqing, and I went to the supermarket and bought red peppers, and also some packages of 花椒. The English name is prickly ash.  I also brought back hot pot 火锅 spices, so I can do that. When I have time to invite some friends...

What is airplane cheese?  Anyway, looks yummy.                Tonight I am making peanut butter cookies in the shape of car wheels.  Someday it will be great to get back to adult cooking.  I'm a single parent with two 4-year-olds, so they make the rules.
