Tiananmen and the forbidden city will look great today with the beautiful blue sky. Make that all day and do the summer palace another day when you have blue sky. Just south of Tiananmen is the Qianmen Hutong area and shopping streets which are cool. Just east of the Forbidden City is Wangfujing where you can go to the night market part and eat exotic foods. Jus north of the forbidden city is Jingshan park that will give you a great pic of the forbidden city from the hill. There is also Beihai park which is very pretty. Sorry, long message.

I'm not trying to move you along just yet haha. Beijing is a pretty amazing place. I've visited Japan and loved it but too expensive to make it my home base. Which places in Beijing have you visited?
