Rob Chapman House music DJ fresh from the clubbing capital of the world London England and Manager of London’s Largest Pirate House Music Radio Station unknownfm.net that broadcasts on both 90.6 and 108fm covering most of the south east of England, as well as being popular thought the world via the internet, has touched down in Klubb Rouge Beijing! Rob Chapman plays upfront house music combined with club classics exciting the crowds and treating them to the very latest sounds from around the world!
Aged 35 Rob has been DJ’ing and promoting clubs since the tender age of 16 in 1989! He played his first ever gig for Samantha Fox, England’s biggest ever (in more ways than one!) page 3 Topless Model and one time pop star. His DJ career continued to grow into the 90’s as he hosted the “Lesson” Raves and other parties in the booming Rave scene that gripped the UK in London, at the age of 17 he published “Rave On” England’s first free glossy magazine dedicated to Clubbing, Dance Music and Fashion.
Throughout the 1990’s Rob played for London’s elite at exclusive parties as well as regular clubs in the surrounding counties, it wasn’t until 1998 that he got his first taste of Pirate Radio a phenomenon known mainly to London that has kept London at the cutting edge of the dance music scene and clubbing community. The station was a very small odd ball station called Touch FM broadcasting on 99.1fm that played mainly UK Garage, which was hugely popular at the time and dominating the commercial mainstream charts. Rob wasn’t playing UK Garage though unlike many DJ’s who had changed music genre Rob had stayed loyal to the House sound. To avoid prosecution from the authorities Rob adopted his nick name “Nobi Wan”. Rob got a fellow house music DJ and friend called “Phat Daddy Zak” who had previously run a very popular radio station called “Risk FM” to return to Pirate Radio and co host a show called the “Slam Jam Sessions”. It was one of only a few House music shows on the station but its prime time slot of 6pm till 8pm Saturday night combined with good humour and the most upfront House music imported weekly from America helped it shoot up in popularity and encouraged more House music DJ’s to join Touch FM’s ranks and helped it climb to the top of the Pirate Airwaves that generated two Rival stations to start Unknown FM & House FM.
During his time at Touch FM Rob and Zak started the “London Funky” parties that quickly became popular, and both continued to DJ throughout London Zak later went on to start “MUAK” now in its 5th year and London’s biggest deep house party, known for bringing many foreign DJ’s to London for the first time, Rob soon joined MUAK as resident DJ and for a time co-promoter hosting the parties in London’s trendy Shoreditch Party area.
After the demise of Touch FM Rob joined Unknown FM and within a year became part of the management and help the station join the worldwide web to increase its listenership, Unknown FM as mentioned earlier is London’s and probably the world’s biggest Pirate House music station with people listening from every continent in the world as well as a high tech fishing trawler in the middle of the Atlantic! And also has DJ’s from around the world hosting shows.
Over the years Rob has played at pretty much every venue in London as well as Ibiza the world’s favourite clubbing holiday destination, Spain and other countries in Europe to crowds up to 6,000.
Robs DJ career has seen him work for corporate events, fashion shows and he was the sole DJ for London’s famous Urban Beach sponsored by Lastminute.com with crowds in excess of 50,000 people attending and gaining coverage from the BBC and ITV and national press.

Hi Rob! I am really impressed by your background... promoting clubs since the tender age of 16, that's quite something! I am relatively new to the Beijing scene, having been away in England for quite a while. I would love to tune myself in, maybe at KlubbRouge? Would it be possible to be invited to your Dec. 13 gig? I will bring 4 party friends along if that's ok. Many thanks in advance! Bing : )
