The journey to Shanghai

The journey to ShanghaiWhen left Beijing for Shanghai on December 3, destiny was a word suitable for me. It surprised me that Li Jing was in the same carriage with me, who is responsible for the loving heart library program, which I have been working for more than one year since I entered Peking University(PKU) . We talked happily about this miracle, which contains same date, same coach number and same carriage. After a night of journey, we finally arrived at Shanghai Railway Station, which is…See More

The Tragedy of Aeneas

The Tragedy of AeneasThere were too much for Aeneas to suffer. So he lived a miserable life in terms of destiny, and he had to face many choices that could not be avoided though he spare no effort to avoid the tragedies, that is to say.I doubt whether he was really happy when he led his peoplefinally embarked on the land, the so-called new promised land- Italy. Aneas, who witnessed the destruction of his own city, how the Trojans were killed by the Greek army, in which blood and cruelty was…See More

No Need for the Existence of Nobel Peace Prize

In October every year, there are excitement and disappointment on the news about the Nobel Peace Prize. Then the criticism or suspicion of Chinese education, especially higher education comes out after the absence of Chinese, not Chinese Americans or French. Maybe in common, Nobel Prize is the only meaningful prize , the only way to examine the science and social science’s development of China or its education. Most of Chinese have not higher education, so they often focus too much on the Nobel…See More

The need of a forigner's learning a country's culture and tradition

I was shocked by an international student from America today, when I called him to say Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. He did not the festival at all from his word with surprise. Maybe in his memory, a festival ,especially a big festival needs to be celebrated by the government and the people, needs a great parade or other ways to celebrate. It took me several minutes to explain the history, status and meaning of Mid-Autumn Festival to him. In the process, my quotation of Tang Poetry evoked his more…See More

The need of a foreigner's understanding of a country's cluture and tradition

I was shocked by an international student from America who did not know much about Chineses Mid-Autumn Festival when I called him to say Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. As a language leaner, I really doubt what we have learned covers what we need to learn. Not knowing a country's culture and tradition , one that can speak the language fluently cannot make many of his or her topics continue with a native speaker. I think language learning shoud consist of a lot learning about a country's culture,…See More

The cost of a bad sense of direction

Posted on December 18, 2009 at 11:56pm 0 Comments

It took me nearly one hour to finally get to our oral English teacher's home, Fortunately, I am a boy who can go anywhere in a city without a GPS device ,a compass or maps. Maybe given a simple map, I can expore any city I like to go.

I am really intersted in why most of females have no sense of direction. My mother is a typical one. Though having been to a place a lot of times, she still take the risk of getting lost in the city. Then I find that not only my mother, there are lots… Continue

Two," then Number Two Middle Shool of Guixi, which is my alma mater and I spent three years there from September of 2002 to June, in 2005. In fact, I really like the atmosphere in my junior middle school. In a guy of 14, Number two was the best place for a pupil's further study.

There was no worry about my entry into this shool, remember, we students in China have to take the compulsory education for 9 years, I am really intersted in why my deskmate in my high school did not go on… Continue

Children in the rural, mountain and west areas

Posted on December 17, 2009 at 11:13pm 0 Comments

Every time I watch the DV , which is about the real rural primary school life in Gangsu Province in Northwest China, I feel a burden on my shoulders. I, as a student and man with sense of responsibity and loving heart, cannot do much to change something for the children's situation, which makes me feel ashamed in terms of responsibility as a citizen. The differences or gaps between the east and midwest is huge, especiall between the east and the west. You cannot imagine that in some rural and… Continue
